It’s that time of year again! We LOVE Autumn in this house and Halloween is a treasured time. Pumpkin spice lattes, Harvest candles, spooky decor, a nip in the air, it all just adds up to fun fun fun!
When Styles was an only child, I spent countless house making his Halloween costumes. These days, I don’t have the time. Shoot, I don’t have time to drive to the store to pick out Halloween Costumes. Thank GOD for the internet and Costume Discounters!
I checked their website for kids Halloween costumes for all three of my children. I was blown away by all of the unique options and had a very difficult time narrowing it down to 5 options, let alone 1. Styles couldn’t decide between 3, although I was sure he had a favorite and was trying to not tell me which one it was.
I finally polled my readers, friends, and family about which of the 3 costumes Styles should choose.
A good 80% chose the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man, which is the one that I had a hunch might be Styles’ favorite. I didn’t tell him which costume my readers had chosen so he was absolutely delighted when it showed up at our door one day.
We immediately put it on and tested it out.
The suit has a white zipper in the back and a white fan that attaches to a battery box that blows the suit up. There is elastic around the neck to keep the air in so that the costume can inflate. I was nervous that Styles would freak out and not want to have the neck zipped up, tight around his neck. I took a deep breath, zipped it up and waited for the complaining to start. When it didn’t start, I put the head on him and made sure he could see well. As Styles was putting his gloves on, he started telling me that the neck was too tight but I told him to wait a few minutes and see how it went. His complaint didn’t surprise me in the slightest. I can’t even get the kid to wear a shirt buttoned up to the second button.
We went outside and turned the fan on. I couldn’t help myself from laughing as it puffed right up on my skinny little boy. There is elastic in the arms and legs to make it look marshmallowey. Madilyn freaked out and ran the other direction, hiding behind her daddy’s legs when Styles started walking towards her.
I was extremely impressed with the quality of the materials used for the costume. It is like a parachute material and more lightweight than I thought it would be, but strong. I was afraid that the fabric would be hot down here in the sweaty Georgia air but Styles said that because the fan is constantly running, that it’s nice and cool inside there so that makes me feel better about him not overheating when he’s running around destroying candy bowls on Hallow’s Eve.
The only constructive criticism about the costume that I have is the sizing. Styles is a 10/12 slim in clothing and this costume is supposed to be a One Size Fits All up to size 14. Styles is long and lanky but he’s nowhere near as tall as most 14 year olds and this costume is at least 4″ short in the arms. We’ll probably wear a long-sleeved white shirt underneath to compensate for the skin showing. If I were to get one of these for an older or taller child, I would go ahead and get the adult costume. Other than that, we are extremely pleased with the costume.
Styles says, “It’s pretty much the sweetest thing ever”.
And I think that it’s pretty sweet that it was less expensive than the costumes you’ll buy at any mass retailer or costume super store. AND that he’s going to have a unique costume. WINNING!
Without a doubt, visit Costume Discounters for all of your Halloween fun! You’ll find phenomenal costume ideas for everyone in your family for way less than you’d spend anywhere else!
Disclaimer: I was provided a costume for review, however; this did not influence my opinions in any way. As always, my voice, thoughts, and precious little Marshmallow Men are my very own.
