Summer

I'm a married stay at home mom who feels more like a single stay at home mom (who miraculously has money coming in every other week). I have a super hardworking restaurant manager husband, a gifted son who has ADHD, an attitude-charged daughter, and an angel baby. I'm recovering from PPD, weight gain, and a life filled with rejection. Coffee is my religion, I have a relationship with Christ, I love my friends, I cherish my family, and I secretly aspire to be like Martha Stewart. My catch phrase is, "That's ridiculous", although if you were to ask my children they'd say that it's, "SHHHHHH! I'm on the phone!"

My Children are Buttholes

I’ve come to the conclusion that my children want me to be fat. It only makes sense, I mean, why else would they scream like pterodactyls in child care at the YMCA  and force the poor, deaf child care workers to come haul me out of a class only 15 minutes in? Because they like [...]

It's a Great Day to be a Dog

Gosh, vacation really screws things up, doesn’t it?  I mean just life in general, routines, sleep.  EVERYTHING! Especially when “vacation” isn’t really a vacation because instead of it being a “vacation” it’s more of a “familycation” where you go stay with family in order to visit them in a familiar city. A far cry from [...]

Giving Back to The Boys & Girls Club #OdwallaCFK #CBias

I am always so excited to give back to the community and nothing makes me feel better than helping someone in need, which is why I was so excited when Collective Bias, Champions for Kids, and Odwalla put together a sports equipment donation drive.  I had the fantastic idea of mobilizing Styles’ 5th grade classroom [...]

Annie's Organic Rising Crust Pizza Review

As you all know, we went Paleo back in October which means that as a general rule, we don’t eat grains.  The kids are STILL being difficult so we do still feed them things that aren’t Paleo. One of our favorite companies to purchase from is Annie’s Homegrown.  The kids absolutely love the little bunny [...]

The War on Peeps

I have a confession.  Those flipping Easter Peeps started chirping my name as soon as the sun broke through the night sky on Easter morning.  I was SO good.  I told them, “No, Peeps!  You stop chirping my name!  I don’t want your melty, sugary selves in my bellah, messin’ up my blood sugar mojo!” [...]

"Bad Parenting" Techniques That I Practice Daily: Part 2

“Bad Parenting” Techniques That I Practice Daily: Part 1 started off as a 10 item list but because it was so stinking long, I broke it into two parts.  You are graced today with Part 2.  This one is sure to knock a few socks off. “Bad Parenting” Technique #6:  No Doctor is (sometimes) the [...]

"Bad Parenting" Techniques That I Practice Daily: Part 1

All the perfect parents, raise your hands! I hope not a single one of you raised so much as a fingernail. I’m not perfect and I don’t claim to be.  I am learning just like the next parent, and one of the biggest lessons that I have taken away from parenthood is that each child [...]

My Tribute to Papa - a SIMPLE Service Project

My grandfather was a devout volunteer nearly every day of his life.  When his body began to fail him, he made my uncle drive him around town so that he could get his Meals on Wheels deliveries done.  He was only a month shy of 88.  His love of volunteerism was infectious and because he [...]

No Housework Day Celebration

If you’ve been reading here for a while, you should be familiar with my struggles as an effective housekeeper.  Juggling three children with the blog, my new business, and keeping the house is not an act that I’m primed for.  I feel like all I freaking do is run after the babies and clean [...]

Easter Baskets on a Budget

We love holidays in this family.  Of course the children love them because they’re treated to things that they don’t normally get like copious amounts of sugar and presents.  Easter is no exception. This year, we’re on quite the budget so I set a $15 limit for Madilyn’s basket, a $15 limit for Grady’s budget, [...]
