I am SO pleased to be working with i play.® this year during A Blogtastic Extravaganza 2.0! My theme is “Safe Sunning” and it is a theme that is very near and dear to my heart. My family history is riddled with cancer, skin cancer being the most prevalent. I had an uncle who had [...]
Have you ever had Rotavirus? It’s no fun. I won’t go into it other than to say that you feel like someone is trying to push your intestines out through your bowels. Forcefully. It lasts for up to 10 days and really knocks you on your derriere. So that’s what my family has been dealing with the past week. Madilyn, Styles, and I had a very mild form of it. Styles had it when he was younger and so did I. Madilyn had the vaccine. Grady and Kyle, however; were super sick. Kyle was in between the bedroom and the bathroom for almost a week and Grady was in an obvious amount of pain but it seemed worse in the evenings and through the night *yawn*.
It was virtually impossible for me to keep up with my housewife duties while I was nursing Grady constantly each and every day, taking care of Kyle, shopping for tissues and toilet paper (we went through an entire 12 Mega Roll package), and shuttling everyone to doctor’s appointments. Not only was I exhausted, I was frustrated that my house looked like it had Rotavirus too.
I had been washing diapers every 18 hours because Grady had diarrhea every time I fed him which was literally every half hour, just to keep him hydrated. When I had to take Madilyn to the doctor, I realized that I only had a couple diapers left for Grady so I made a mental note to put a load in as I was walking out the door with her.
I piled the kids into the van and away we went, to find out that Madilyn had an ear infection (great). While we were there, Grady had a nice diarrhea so I changed him and put the diaper in the wet bag, suddenly realizing that I had only 2 diapers left at home. It takes a good 4 hours for me to wash our cloth and I just prayed that it would be enough time.
When we got home I finally threw the diapers into the wash. About 5 minutes into the rinse cycle, Grady had another explosive diarrhea. (no pun intended. Well…maybe it was). I have a high-efficiency machine and you can’t just throw stuff into the wash once it’s started so I had to set it aside. I was now onto my second to last diaper. I held Grady up and told him to cease fire for just 3 more hours.
STOP LAUGHING AT ME!
Once the rinse was done, I started the hot wash. We had escaped without any poop so I was hoping that he would continue to remain poop-free for the next 3-ish hours. He started to cry for milk so I fed him for about 5 minutes before I saw his face turning red and I heard him grunting.
So I changed him into the last diaper that I had for him.
I don’t even have to tell you what happened next, do I? OK, OK, I will….
I picked him up from the changing table and he pooped again. IMMEDIATELY.
I swear I saw him laugh at me.
But I got the last laugh when I put him in one of Madilyn’s diapers. Thank God she’s potty trained.

Things happen in my life on a near-daily basis that prove Murphy’s Law as truth. Each Monday is dedicated to showcasing my life’s crazy moments. My wonderful friend, her fantastic husband, and beautiful daughter had us to their house this weekend for a cookout in celebration of Memorial Day. There were two other couples there, [...]
We cloth diaper so when Madilyn poops, we dump it into the toilet and flush it. As children begin to potty train, some are afraid of losing their poop so I have taught Madilyn to say “good bye” to her poop as we flush it so that [hopefully] she’s not afraid of losing it [...]
I am all about discount sites such as Zulily, Totsy, & Green Baby Bargains (just to name a few). But today I would specifically like to tell you about my experience today with Zulily. About two weeks ago, I ordered a pair of maternity jeans and a maternity shirt for a ginormous discount. I received the package today and [...]
Please tell me you’ve heard of the Duggar family? I first heard about them when I accidentally ran across their TLC TV show “18 Kids and Counting”. They have since added another child to the mix making their show, “19 Kids and Counting”. And counting? Seriously? Their last child, Josie was born seriously premature and [...]
So it’s no secret that I think that cloth diapers are the best invention since the booty. They’ve been used since the beginning of time but the cloth diapers I use, are not like the cloth diapers that covered the butt of the Almighty One over 2000 years ago as he lay in a [...]
