We eat a lot of fruit in this family, and I’m trying to get my kids to eat more vegetables. It’s not always their favorite so I look for new ways for them to get their nutrients.
It’s no secret that my kids have fallen in LOVE with Tyson’s Mini Chicken Sandwiches. Madilyn can inhale a whole mini sandwich in minutes and Styles generally eats her extra sandwich as well as his own package of two.
They have actually become a great snack for Styles to eat while he’s doing his homework after school. It’s not messy and he can mindlessly grab one of the mini sandwiches between solving complicated math problems that I swear I didn’t start doing until I was in high school.
The problem is that there are no vegetables in them! Make him eat raw veggies?
So as I watched Grady shovel handful after handful after handful of chopped spinach into his mouth last week, I thought that perhaps I could saute some fresh spinach with some garlic, and put a few leaves on the Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches to add some extra nutrients into them.
STEPS 1 & 4: I wilted one handful of spinach with some minced garlic and olive oil over medium heat.
STEPS 2 & 3: I then cooked the sandwiches according to their package instructions.
And placed some spinach inside each one.
The verdict from my most picky eater?
He liked it! Thumbs up! SWEET! Madilyn ate hers too, and said “MMMMM das good, Mommy!”
It was a super easy and quick way to add loads of iron and nutrients to an after school snack.
So where can you get these little gems for yourself? Check Tyson’s store locator here! There’s bound to be a Walmart near you that sells them. I keep waiting for my Walmart to stock their shelves with them but in the meantime, I don’t mind traveling a few extra miles to pick them up.
And don’t forget that while supplies last, if you buy TWO boxes of Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches, you get a $5 gift card from Walmart. That’s like buying one and getting one free! I know you coupon lovers will like that!

This past weekend, I held a Pumpkin Decorating Party for Styles and a few of his friends. I wanted to make it something memorable but I have an issue with putting all of my scattered thoughts into action. I always have the very best, most creative intentions but am too overwhelmed to carry any of them out.
Welcome, the 3 Wise Websites: Party Blueprints Blog, Kmart’s “Attack of the 50′ Party“, and the 50′ Party Pinterest Board.
These three websites really helped me reign my creativity in to plan something that (I hope) was memorable for Styles and his friends.
This image has not been altered. This really happened in the middle of Kmart and I'm sure there are security cameras to prove it.
I was able to jump on Kmart’s awesome Halloween website and check out the things that Totally Ghoul had to offer. I love knowing what I’m going to run into before I go shopping because I generally have a very limited window of opportunity. Miss Priss and her Attitude usually show up in full force for any shopping expedition I embark on.
While I was looking on the website, I decided that my budget was going to be $100 and that I wanted to spend the bulk of my money on decor because I think that setting the stage and atmosphere for a party is #1. I had my sights set on this guy because he looked totally creepy. And because two of my neighbors have little graveyards in their yards, I knew I’d be picking up some headstones as well.
I LOVE to bake but Kyle was going to be working on Friday evening which is when the “party” was going to be so I picked up 5 Totino’s pizzas, some Hershey’s Hugs, pretzels, candy corn, and DECORATIONS!
Once I got there, I looked at my little friend up there and realized that he was for indoor use only. I searched for a scary dude that I could leave out in the front yard without having to worry about the rain. I found a freaky Zombie Vampire dude that jumps up at you from a laying down position. TOTALLY freaky.
Kmart did a fantastic job of decorating their Totally Ghoul room. It was creepified and Madilyn didn’t want to go in there. It showcased their big-ticket items which is good marketing because I fell for it and ended up spending $125 instead of $100. *OOOPS*.
Take a look at my Intersect story to see our shopping trip! We had a fun time until Madilyn had a Category 5 meltdown upon checkout. I am thankful for security cameras for keeping me accountable to my impatience. I kept chanting, “You don’t want to be on the nightly news, you don’t want to be on the nightly news, you don’t want to be on the nightly news”.
Setting up for the party was fun. I made it easy on myself and decorated with the pumpkins that I bought for the kids to decorate, the food, and some FUN bats that I bought at Kmart. The black tablecloth that I purchased was not staying on the table in our windy weather so I tied a bat to each corner of the cloth under the table to weight it down. It worked like a CHARM and really added to the atmosphere.
When Styles’ friends arrived, they were absolutely terrified of our decor out front. Kyle did a good job placing everything so that you got a scare every few feet as you were walking up to our door. It really set the stage for what was to come.
I found snack ideas from the Party Blueprints Blog and decor ideas from the 50′ party. I ended up buying pumpkin pie pumpkins for about $1.50 each to save some serious money. I also bought black paint, pipe cleaners, glitter, and googly eyes thinking that the kids would make really cool and ghosts on their pun’kins. Yeah. No such luck.
The artist in me had a hard time keeping her mouth shut and telling the kids how their pun’kins should look. I digress. They had a great time and enjoyed the snacks and decor.
Here are a few of the pumpkins from our party. I put the paint in a recycled egg carton and had 20 paintbrushes so that we didn't have to mix colors. Each kid got their own pumpkin and was able to paint it however they wanted to! (SO hard for me)
I seriously couldn’t have done anything had it not been for the 3 Wise Websites. I love throwing parties but am usually so overwhelmed that I don’t know what to do.
If you need some direction where it comes to parties, especially Halloween ones, check those Totally Ghoul sites out. Seriously, yo.
Here were our treats. The cupcakes had "coagulated blood" inside them. I dyed vanilla pudding red and filled each cupcake. I would have never thought to do it had I not visited the 3 Wise Websites.
And while you’re at it, check out Kmart on Facebook. They’re holding a Monster Bash Giveaway bya giving away a terrifyingly huge amount of money this Halloween season. Each week the prize increases. You really can’t and shouldn’t miss it. This week’s prize? a $900 Kmart gift card. Can you IMAGINE?!?!? Of course, don’t forget to check out the 50 Foot Party website for more money-saving coupons and tips. ’MORE’bidly good deals, you guys.

In light of the recent coupon craze, I’ve been exploring new ways to shop and save. I am probably the worst couponer in the history of mankind but I do try. For grocery shopping, I go to Publix and use coupons for whatever their BOGOs are but I still haven’t figured out the whole stacking thing and how to save a lot of money. I’m a nickel and dime saver right now. On groceries, anyways.
I’ve always been pretty savvy about my online shopping, though. Or at least I thought I was until I landed upon Brad’s Deals. Holy MONKEYS! Savings out the wazoo over here, people! I am seriously impressed.
Not only are there zillions of savings, the site is supremely easy to navigate and includes coupons for online purchases, as well as printable coupons. There is a search bar on the site where you can type in whatever it is that you’re looking for and it brings up all of your matches. I searched “tie” because I got Kyle a tie bar for Father’s Day and I’d like to get him a new tie to go with it.
It brought up this gorgeous Jos. A. Bank silk tie for $19.97, down from $89.50! That’s a $70 savings!!!
So then I thought that maybe, just maybe (but probably not), they would have Home Depot coupons. Guess what? THEY DID! My husband and I bought our house a little over a year ago and we still have SO much that we need to do to make it a “home”. READ: custom Martha Stewart closets! There is even a deal for 7% off on Home Depot Gift cards. You know…just in case you were wondering what to get me for my 30th birthday next month!
Then my quest led me to search for children’s clothing. That’s where I came upon one of my favorite clothing stores for my kids, The Children’s Place. I’ve been shopping there since Styles was a baby and I love that I can still shop there for all three of my crazy monkeys. Not only do they cater to babies, they carry fashionable and affordable clothing for my nearly-10 year old son too. Their prices are always great without additional discounts so finding deals on their clothing is even more AH-MAZING!
I’m a sucker for a good deal so I’ve added Brad’s Deals to my bookmark bar. You better believe the next time you get a gift from me, that I got a discount on it from this site.
